Tom Chilton Norfolk-bound: A Weekend of BTCC Action Ahead

The British Touring Car Championship is back this weekend, and all eyes are on Norfolk’s Snetterton Circuit as the grid lines up for thethird event of the season with Birch’s own Tom Chilton out in action once more.

Fresh from his local event at Brands Hatch, where Tom found a newly resurfaced track surface meddled with his pre-season set-up, throwing a whole new dynamic into the weekend.  Nevertheless Tom would end the weekend with strong performances on track and fourth in the drivers’ standings.

Now it’s time for the Team VERTU driver and Birch Commercial Director to take to the fast, flat, and technical Snetterton track.

Snetterton is a 3mile lap, not only the longest we race at in the UK but also the most technical. I really enjoy the challenge it gives us to maximise the car setup vs our driving technique

The Snetterton layout should provide ample opportunity for drama and overtaking, particularly with this season’s ultra-tight grid and mixed weather forecasts on the horizon.

The racing will be fantastic again with the mix of soft and hard tyres. We’ve learnt a lot about our car handling on the hard tyres after Brands. I just hope it’s enough to give us the edge.

Snetterton has long been a favourite among drivers and fans alike, and it’s a track where Tom has previously delivered standout performances. With the Hyundai showing strong pace in recent rounds, there’s every chance this weekend could bring some silverware — or at the very least, a scrap through the midfield that reminds everyone just how seasoned and savvy Chilton remains.

It was the first racetrack in the BTCC that I got back-to-back Wins in, back in 2005. All the tickets were sold out at Brands hatch so I’m expecting it to be a busy bank holiday weekend. The local fans are welcoming and loyal and I’m looking forward to seeing them all at the weekend.

As always, touring car racing delivers that rare mix of edge-of-the-seat action and no-holds-barred competition. Whether your trackside or tuning in from home, expect elbows out, paint traded, and no shortage of talking points.

At Birch, we take pride in caring for high-performance and classic machines — from timeless collector cars to the kind of finely-tuned touring car technology you’ll see on the grid at Snetterton. And like Tom, we believe in preparation, precision, and keeping things in perfect condition – whether it’s a BTCC Hyundai or a Ferrari 458.

Snetterton’s first race goes green just before midday on Sunday, with qualifying streamed live on Saturday. Let’s see what Tom and the team can deliver — and don’t rule out a late charge through the pack.
